Bill Gowdy is new Chairman
Bill Gowdy became Chairman of ICE NI, following the Annual General Meeting in September, affirming to members that the Institution will do it's level best to promote investment in construction and the role of the civil engineer in the economic recovery ahead of and beyond October's Comprehensive Spending Review.
Bill, who is Head of Waste Water Procurement at NI Water, also sits on ICE Council in London as the region's representative. At a time when the industry is facing an uncertain future, Bill's goal for his year as Chairman is to engage the Committee and Regional Support Team to reflect the importance of construction investment to key stakeholders utilising for example, the knowledge and expertise set out within the State of the Nation Report.
Another objective for the new Chairman, as set out during his Annual General Meeting address, is to get the profession moving again to allow young people to become civil engineers an address the looming skill shortage, and to help the whole economy improve for all our benefit.
