On 12 and 13 July, ICE Salisbury will run the Bridge to Schools event with Bishop Wordsworth's School in Salisbury.
This activity is a hands-on, practical task. Pupils construct a 15-metre long, model cable-stayed bridge (the same design as the Second Severn Crossing) from plywood and aluminium sections and then walk across the bridge they have just built.
Our plan for the two days is to have some theory sessions running alongside the bridge sessions, so that we can make a real event of the visit for the pupils involved. We want to make as much of an impression on them as possible and really promote civil engineering as a career.
