Bridges over the Tamar Leaflet now available

Date:

17 JANUARY 2012

Engineering leaflet aimed at members and tourists produced by members of the South West Region.

In 2011 a group of South West members decided to produce a tourism leaflet to promote engineering in the Region. We are now please to announce that this leaflet focusing on the Bridges over the River Tamar is complete and will be in the tourism offices of Devon and Cornwall very soon.

The River Tamar is the natural border between the South West Counties of Cornwall and Devon. It begins less that 4 miles inland from the North coast and flows southwards for a total of 61 miles to Plymouth Sound.

There have been many crossing over this river through the centuries, with a large number no longer in existence. The current bridges still in use today date from c.1437 (Horse Bridge) to present day (Dunheved Bridge).
