Brunel the Bear's South West Adventures

Date:

11 MAY 2011

Walking, Sailing, Cycling, Climbing - Brunel the Bear's done it all in the South West!

From 24 April until 8 May, ICE South West graduates and students arranged for our cuddly Brunel the Bear to be transported around the South West, all in aid of engineering charities.

Raising money for RedR UK, Engineers Without Borders UK and Engineers Against Poverty, our bear has been treated to some fantastic activities by the G&S. He started out in Dorset with a picnic and sponsored walk, and has since taken part in a river race on the River Tamar, various cycle rides, a kite surf, a night walk through Box Tunnel and a climb up over the Severn Bridge. He even found the time to drop in and say hello to the students taking part in our Create Sport regional final (some of them would happily have taken him home, but by this point he was already on his way to Wales).

ICE South West would like to offer a huge thank you to the South West G&S Committee, especially Brunel the Bear Coordinators Rachel Tyson and Anthony Pearson, and all those who have supported the cause throughout Brunel the Bear's visit.

It's not too late to donate either. Just visit http://www.brunelthebear.org.uk/#charities and follow the link towards the bottom of the page.
