CPD Seminar focuses on growing area of Socially Responsible Procurement

Date:

24 SEPTEMBER 2010

The 2010 ICE continuing professional development seminar will focus on the emerging theme of Socially Responsible Procurement. The seminar will be held on Wednesday 13 October 2010 at the Point Boardroom, W5, Queens Quay Belfast.

What is socially responsible public procurement an why is it important concept for the civil engineering industry to grasp?

Socially Responsible Public Procurement (SRPP) is about using the purchasing power of the public sector to deliver wider social benefits.  With a strong political focus on the construction sector, it is now an political imperative, supported both by the policy and legal contexts, to the extent that in the current economic climate, it can be a key factor in the decisions behind whether to support a project or not.

This seminar has been designed to bring out the latest thinking and developments in SRPP, to ensure that ICE Members are best placed to respond to these challenges, whether as a client, a consultant or as a contractor.
