The Engineering Education Scheme (EES), run by the Engineering Development Trust (EDT), links companies with local schools and universities to provide students with a better understanding of the real world of work and assist teachers with a practical application of their subject.
The EES provides you as a company with a team (or teams) of 4 talented and highly motivated students (Year 12) for 6 months who are tasked to solve a real and live problem set by your company.
Last year 49% of the EES students chose to study engineering, 91% a STEM degree. The teachers are exposed to industrial reality. With the EDT’s support, it’s so easy for companies to benefit from taking part in the EES:
• Create local school links
• Raise your profile in the community and support local education as part of your Corporate Social Responsibility.
• Develop your people
• Improve skills, develop your team and get access to talented young people
• Create more scientists and engineers
• Help encourage more young people to choose a career in science or engineering.
• Solutions with business benefits
• 70% of the teams reported actual or potential financial benefit to the link company
With the EES, everyone wins! EDT really needs more civil engineering companies to take part so that the students gain experience in civil engineering.
