The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) South East England has welcomed an announcement by the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) that it has allocated £1.5 million to improve infrastructure at North Queensway Business Park in Hastings.
Director of ICE South East England, John Laverty, said: “ICE South East England believes that investment in improved infrastructure brings economic benefits not just while the project is being built but well into the future.
“We are pleased that this view is shared by SELEP and welcome this week’s announcement that £1.5 million has been allocated from the Growing Places Fund towards the cost of a new junction off Queensway in Hastings, to open up this site for future development and to undertake the initial infrastructure work needed to support the scheme.
“It is estimated that the North Queensway Project will create 865 jobs for East Sussex when it opens but the lasting benefits are likely to be even more significant.
“We look forward to this work getting underway in 2013 so the economy of Hastings and East Sussex can benefit as soon as possible.”
