News that the Government has confirmed it will provide £56.8 million towards the cost of the Bexhill to Hastings Link Road in East Sussex has been welcomed by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in South East England.
ICE Regional Director John Laverty said: “ICE South East England welcomes this commitment by the Government to investing in infrastructure in East Sussex as we believe that the return on such investment brings both short and long term benefits for the county’s economy.
“We understand this proposed new link road will help enable the construction of up to 2,000 new homes and a business park space of 50,000 square metres which could create at least 3,000 new jobs.
“We hope that the balance of the funding will be available soon to allow work to start on this link road in the near future so the benefits can then be enjoyed by residents and businesses.”
