Construction of a Continuous Composite Bridge of Egnatia Odos Motorway, Greece

This article is about the T10 Bridge in section 2.4 (Arahthos-Peristeri) located near the village Peristeri in Epirus, as part of the Egnatia Motorway project.

This bridge crosses the Metsovitiko river and consists of two independent and identical decks, 288m. length and 12.76m. wide each. The T10 bridge is a continuous of eight (8x36) span composite construction.

Each deck is composed of six (6) steel plate girders 1.50m. high, each with a shape of a double T and an insitu reinforced concrete slab. The slab is concrete with static collaborated steel slabs type τύπου KONTI - KSH 100. In the positions where the steel beams are settled, diaphragms are constructed in a form of double T. The composite deck, total height 1,85m, is settled on the piers and abutments via bearings. The piers (diameter 3.20m) and the abutments are founded in piles of diameter 1.20m.
