The Engineering the Future alliance, a group of engineering bodies including ICE, the Royal Academy and a range of other institutions, has launched an in-depth report looking at the need to adapt our infrastructure to deal with the impact of climate change in the future.
It particularly examines the risks facing us, what engineering solutions need to be implemented and how Government policy must support and drive the right environment for this to happen.
The report was commissioned by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) as part of it’s cross-governmental work into climate change adaptation and will be considered in its final review.
‘Infrastructure, Engineering and Climate Change Adaptation – ensuring services in an uncertain future’ was launched to a wide range of national, broadcast and trade media yesterday at the Science Media Centre. David Nickols, chair of the ICE water panel, presented the water section of the report.
The launch has received extensive media coverage, including articles on Guardian online, the Times, BBC online, an interview on radio 4’s Today programme and the Engineer.
