A group of engineers from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Wales Cymru members took part in the Cardiff Mo-Run to raise public awareness of civil engineering.

As well as supporting Movember, funding men's health charities, the runners were competing against their new Chairman Geoff Ogden who had promised to make a personal contribution to Engineers for Overseas Development (EFOD) if they crossed the line in an equal or shorter time.
Geoff said: “I want to raise the profile of civil engineers and at the same time have some fun and get fit! I am challenging members of the Institution in Wales to beat my time at a number of races over the next 12 months at locations throughout South Wales. If they do I will donate to EFOD, which I’m proud to say, started off life as a subgroup of ICE Wales Cymru and is now a charity in its own right.”
Many members of ICE Wales Cymru have supported EFOD – the charity which seeks to alleviate poverty by supporting community projects – by volunteering their engineering skills in Uganda and Zambia. They also have a new toolkit for poverty alleviation following the launch last week by First Minster Carwyn Jones of the Toolkit for International Development, developed by ICE.
