Graduate Member is ICE NW top golfer
ICE NW Golf Day
Yet again the ICE NW Golf Day was blessed with a fine, sunny April afternoon when the event was held at Lancaster Golf Club.
Sponsorship was again kindly provided by Hill Dickinson and Scantec. Unfortunately Scantec was unable to defend the team prize which they had won last year ahead of 2007 and 2008 winners Capita Cumbria.
The best individual score and WH Schofield Trophy winner was ICE Graduate Member Steve Martin of Morgan Est. Steve had 37 points and was a point ahead of last year’s winner Stewart Dunmore of Sellfafield Sites Ltd. Best guest was Howard Chamberlain of Cheetham Hill Construction. Stewart also won the nearest the pin prize with newcomer Reg Burrow of R. G. Parkins & Partners Ltd. hitting the longest drive.
There were two team prizes this year. In the absence of the Scantec team the Capita Cumbria team of Mike Briggs, Steve Capstick and guests Dick Cuckson and Howard Chamberlain regained the team of four prize. The team of three prize was won by the high scoring trio of Stewart Dunmore, Reg Burrow and Phil Girling.
Future dates for ICE NW golfers are 3 June at Penrith Golf Club when the 5 Northern Regions Golf Tournament is held for the 25th consecutive year. In early September a team of four will represent ICE NW Region in the Thomas Telford trophy at Slaley Hall in Northumberland. It is also planned to resurrect the “Pennine Raiders” match against ICE Yorkshire in September.
