24 MAY 2012

Help is available for students planning to study civil engineering qualifications as this year’s QUEST Undergraduate scholarship opens for applications.

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is offering scholarships of up to £2,500 per year to students who are due to begin accredited courses this Autumn.
As well as financial support, successful candidates can gain great skills and experience working on real life projects and networking with people across the profession.
The scholarship’s significant opportunities include:

  • Financial support of up to £2,500 each year of the course
  • Sponsorship from a leading civil engineering or construction company
  • Work experience placements every summer
  • Potential employment after graduation with a leading company
  • A head start in becoming a professionally qualified civil engineer
  • The Queen’s Jubilee Scholarship Trust (QUEST) was set up in 1977 to support and encourage education in civil engineering.  Since it began, the scheme has supported hundreds of civil engineering students in joining the industry and becoming professionally qualified.

To apply and for more information, visit www.ice.org.uk/questundergrad
The closing date for applications is Friday 22 June.
Malcolm Jackson, Regional Director – ICE East Midlands, commented: “Encouraging the next generation of civil engineers to work on key engineering projects such as roads, railways, energy generation and water maintenance is vital and I am proud that ICE offers this scholarship to provide financial support but key training opportunities.
“I would encourage all students who begin accredited civil engineering courses this Autumn to apply.”
