Earlier this year ICE members in Chennai together with ICE reveiwers visited the site of the Chennai Metro project, at Nehru Park Construction Site, Kilpauk.
They received a briefing about the planning and technical aspects of the metro project as well as a lecture on Safety Induction followed by a visit to the TBM Launching Shaft at Nehru Park. The participants learnt about the tunnel boring machine which will be launched soon to start driving towards Egmore.
The team also visited the precast casting factory in Vayanallur, Chennai where the tunnel lining segment production was in full swing and found out about the various processes implemented in the precast factory.
