ICE Council elections 2010

Date:

18 MAY 2010

The ICE Council election will run from 1 June to 13 July (midday). This will give ICE members the opportunity to vote for candidates to join the ICE Council.

About the Council

The Council is made up of 43 members who are trustees of the Institution and responsible for the Institution´s strategic direction. The elected members will join the Council and start serving their term from November 2010.

Use your vote and have your say

Do you think ICE should be doing anything differently? If so, vote for the candidate you feel can influence the direction of the Institution.

Voting categories

About one third of Council members are elected every year, usually for a three-year term. This year there are 13 vacancies and ICE members, depending on their grade and location, can vote in the different categories. The vacancies within the categories are:

  • Six general members − not representative of a specific constituency and elected by professionally qualified members only
  • Five regional members − elected by professionally qualified members from their respective regions only
    • East of England
    • London
    • South East England
    • Yorkshire and Humber
    • Scotland
  • One member to represent Europe − elected by professionally qualified members residing in Europe (excluding UK)
  • One graduate member − elected by graduate members only

Changes to the voting method

This year, the voting method has changed slightly and ICE is asking all members with a valid email address to vote online. If you do not have an email address, you will still be able to vote by post. However, ICE would like to encourage as many members as possible to vote online.

How to vote

Electoral Reform Services (ERS) has been appointed to carry out the ballot process to ensure the security of the vote. There are two voting methods available to members:

  • Via post: If you do not have an email address, you will be able to vote by post
  • Via email: If you have an email address, voting will take place online. You will receive the ballot information via email and will be directed to a secure, dedicated website to cast your vote. The system does not allow votes to be cast a second time.

Opting out of online voting

If you would prefer to use the postal vote, please opt out of online voting by Wednesday 12 May. To opt out of online voting:

  • Visit MyICE
  • Go to "My Office" and click "change my ICE profile"
  • Click on the + sign next to "Ballot & Voting Options" and tick the box to request the postal vote
