ICE East of England Regional 5-a-side Football Competition 23rd February 2013
In this year’s ICE Regional 5-a-side Football competition 4 teams from Atkins, Bam Nuttall, R G Carter Civil Engineering Ltd and Royal HaskoningDHV braved the freezing conditions in the bid for regional footballing glory.
The tournament began with a competitive group stage with highlights included the R G Carter Civil Engineering Ltd team being reduced to 2 men after some particularly strict refereeing and also a thrilling comeback from Atkins after coming from 4-1 down in their match against Royal HaskoningDHV to win the game 7-5. After the initial group stage the final was contested between Atkins and R G Carter Civil Engineering Ltd with Atkins winning 2-0 and maintaining their unbeaten run throughout the tournament. However special mention should also go to their opponents in the final who played all their games without the luxury of substitutes! For their troubles Atkins received the much coveted ICE East of England Football Trophy and will now go on to represent the region in the national finals to be held in the summer.
