ICE Members in Oman spread holiday cheer
In early January, ICE members in Muscat, Oman visited workers at a range of construction sites in order to wish the work force a Happy New Year and to hand over food parcel gifts.
Organised by the ICE Representative for Oman, Ranganathan Subbaraman and the local ICE committee, the intention was to spread happiness and holiday cheer among a workforce who form the backbone of civil engineering industry in Oman but who often have less opportunity than most to celebrate holiday seasons. Accordingly, ICE members, a team of Atkins staff and the Manager of the Royal Oman Police Welfare Department all volunteered their time to go around Muscat visiting the sites.
The team visited about ten sites which included those concerned with buildings, highways and other civil infrastructure developments within Muscat. The visits were greatly welcomed by the workers and so successful were they, that a similar idea is now being planned for the summer where volunteers will distribute water, juice and other refreshments.
