ICE SW Opens Velodreamland
Is engineering purely scientific and engineers mere automata, or could it be one of the most exciting and creative professions in the world?
This is what ICE Bath will be asking this November, in a talk designed to question the very nature of engineering.
Award-winning engineer Chris Wise will draw on the importance of beauty and pleasure in great engineering and the subservient role of mathematics, with some achievements and calamities thrown in.
He will look at the emotional and intuitive characteristics of engineers and how to encourage others to work that way, whilst trying to still be respectful to the laws of physics and finance.
Chris will also draw on some of his highly acclaimed projects, such as the Olympic Velodrome and the Infinity Bridge.
Tickets cost £6 per person and can be booked via the Velodreamland web page. For any enquiries, please contact Joanne Mallard - joanne.mallard@ice.org.uk / 01752 766230.
