The move of ICE and Thomas Telford staff into one location was achieved in January following the completion of the Eight Storey’s Gate premises.
Building for the future
The acquisition and refurbishment of the building in Westminster, London is designed to deliver business efficiency improvement, collaboration and to help provide a better service for our members.
Departments and divisions which had previously been separated within One Great George Street – or across London – are now all able to work together in one space.
The project was delivered within a revised timeframe and budget agreed with Council following delays caused by contractors going into administration.
Sustainability built in
Despite setbacks, we have achieved a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating for design and are likely to receive a ‘very good’ rating for construction, which is a considerable achievement on a refurbishment of a listed building.
We have met all sustainability targets by:
- Using responsibly sourced construction materials
- Reusing the existing building facade and structure
- Using natural ventilation and insulation to regulate the building’s temperature
- Minimising CO2 emissions and water use through efficient technologies
- Monitoring energy and water use through metering
- Designing for minimal use of replacement materials
Telephone numbers and postal address for ICE staff remain the same, while the Thomas Telford address is now One Great George Street.
