ICE welcomes London Green Fund progress

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, today declared 'open for business' an innovative fund totalling at least £70 million which will finance low carbon waste and recycling infrastructure.

This will help make London a world leader in finding new ways to exploit the cash value of waste, use it to generate green energy whilst creating jobs and developing valuable exportable skills.

Nigel Mattravers, chair of the ICE London Waste Panel, commented:

“We welcome the launch of the London Green Fund which will support development of facilities for the treatment of the capital's waste as a valuable resource. This fund will play a vital part in delivering the Mayor's ambitions for waste management in London, making it easier to progress projects which can offer a good return on investment. As it is a fund which is focussed on waste and resource management it should be able to support projects that would struggle in the general investment market."
