On the 11th July Neil Quane and Paul Bergin of BB Consulting organised an ICE school visit at Ashley Hill Primary School in the Isle of Man.
The visit consisted of a presentation in which the role Civil Engineers play in society was highlighted with a local twist. This was followed by 50 students taking part in building a giant-tetrahedron out of dowel bars and elastic bands. The activity had been designed to demonstrate the varying shapes which are used by engineers to create structures.
The event was an overall success with both students and visitors thoroughly enjoying the afternoon’s activities and planning to make it an annual occurrence.
