Almost seventy industry professionals attended the Low Carbon Solutions Conference at Holywell Park, Loughborough yesterday.
The event, hosted by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) East Midlands, saw regional organisations such as Severn Trent Water, E-On and Boots UK highlight what is currently being done in the region to adopt low-carbon practices to help combat climate change.
Professor Mike Preston, Leader of Environment and Climate Action, Leicestershire County Council, said “today was extremely useful, I gained a great insight into new technologies to lower carbon emissions and it was a good to see where the links are between public and private sector organisations and opportunities for us to work together”.
Ray Dickinson, Head of Environmental Policy, MOD Defences, added “It was a well –balanced and informative agenda and a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas”.
Steve Wynne, Managing Director of EEC Construction Services based in Nottingham said “I found the event useful for strategic thinking and it is always good to think laterally and incorporate various technologies to advise clients on future sustainability”
Martin Dent, Renewable Energy Manager of Severn Trent Water added “It is extremely useful and important that the ICE highlight the need to implement low carbon technologies and events such as this will facilitate further growth in this area”.
