New DVD for Benevolent Fund

Date:

6 DECEMBER 2010

The Institution’s Benevolent Fund has produced a new video showcasing its work and explaining the full range of services available through the Fund to ICE Members and their families.

“Supporting members throughout their working lives” is the new objective for the modernised ICE Benevolent Fund. Major changes in the Charity’s approach to aiding people since its inception in 1864 has given new impetus to this 150 year old charity. The Fund’s initial agenda was to help engineers and their dependants in the case of death or disability, but more recently it has included assistance with getting members back into work after a period of unemployment, or help through distressing times, such as a marriage breakdown or a bereavement.

This change in approach has meant new services, designed to support engineers as they cope with stressful careers and busy home lives. A free 24 hour helpline is available which provides assistance with employment law, including advice on redundancy and workplace issues as well as counselling for stress and depression. Also available - a new outplacement career service which aids members in their search for work in the engineering sector, particularly useful in these difficult times.

There is a host of other help available- all outlined on the new video which can be viewed on our website – www.bfice.org.uk
