The ICE North West Historical Engineering Group needs your help to update its record of engineering plaques in the region and to nominate structures you think are worthy of recognition.
The Historical Engineering Group invites the wider engineering community in the North West to let them know of any existing plaques they are aware of around their area which represents an engineering achievement or personality. The membership may also wish to nominate other potential sites for new plaques which celebrate engineering achievement. It is a function of both the Historical Engineering Group in the NW as well as the Panel for Historical Engineering Works to increase the awareness of the general public to such achievements and notable engineering places of interest – the installation of commemorative plaques is one way of doing this. If any member would like to nominate the group would be more than willing to consider these nominations at their regular meetings.
Please use the following headings:
Name/Event Commemorated – Place – NGR – Erected by Who – Key Date – Inscription – Photograph (if possible)
So please help us and:
- let us know of plaques in your area
- nominate suitable structures, people or engineering works for a plaque
