Prestigious Project Awards 2012 Shortlist announced
ICE Wales Cymru 2012 has announced the shortlist for the prestigious Project Awards 2012, that recognise excellence in concept, planning and design, contract management and construction.
Four projects have been shortlisted for the George Gibby Award (for projects over £3m). Two of the projects are located in north Wales: Denbigh Flood Risk Management Scheme and the A487 Porthmadog, Minffordd & Tremadog Bypass. The two other schemes that have been shortlisted are both highways schemes: the M4 Variable Speed Limit Scheme in south east Wales and the A470 Cwm-bach to Newbridge-on-Wye Scheme in mid Wales.
A wide range of projects have made the shortlist for the Roy Edwards Award (for projects less than £3m) including a regeneration project, a flood defence scheme, a fish pass and three bridge schemes - two replacement projects and one modern installation. The projects are: Usk Town Wall Flood Wall Refurbishment (Monmouthshire); Replacement of Pont Cilcain (Flintshire); Porth Teigr Outer Lock Crossing (Cardiff); Felindre Mill Fish Pass (Powys); Reconfiguration of Tawe Bridges (Swansea); and Bargoed Town Centre Regeneration Project (Caerphilly).
