Professor Roy Severn CBE DSc PhD FREng FICE, 1929-2012
The SW Region notes with sadness the sudden death, on 25 November 2012, of Professor Roy Severn CBE DSc PhD FREng FICE, Past President of ICE and Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Bristol. He was 83.
Roy was a world renowned earthquake engineer as well as a powerful advocate for the Civil Engineering profession at large. He played an important role in ICE SW activities prior to his retirement in 1995.
The Department of Civil Engineering at Bristol University will be organising a celebration of his work in the New Year, to which all will be welcome. Further details will be announced later.
