Regional team forges links with major infrastructure suppliers

Over the past month, representatives from ICE South East England have held meetings with senior staff at water companies and airports in the region.

These meetings have been aimed both at following-up ICE’s State of the Nation Report on Water, published in June 2012, and to help gather evidence for ICE’s national aviation panel as it prepares the Institution’s response to government on the UK’s long-term aviation strategy.

ICE Regional Director, John Laverty, said: "Meeting with infrastructure suppliers like these is a vital part of ICE's role in the region.  By meeting with local firms like this we are able to learn exactly what challenges are being faced on a day to day basis, as well as in the long term.  These conversations are vital in helping to inform ICE's policy positions and ensure that we are presenting policy and decision makers with a realistic view of our industry".

The programme of meetings is continuing.  ICE Director General will be joining the regional team at meetings with Thames Water and London Oxford Airport in November, and a meeting with Gatwick Airport is scheduled for December.

The region is setting up new regional expert panels support this work, so please contact Keith Brown (keith.brown@ice.org.uk) if you would like to get involved.
