Over 20 Supervising Civil Engineers and Delegated Engineers took part in the third of four SCE seminars scheduled for 2011 on 14 June in Bury St Edmunds.
These seminars aim to give SCEs up-to-the-minute information about ICE’s routes to membership and current initiatives to encourage a wide and diverse membership. The seminars are also an opportunity for SCEs and DEs to share best practice in mentoring their trainees through their initial professional development. Feedback is included about key issues of concern to the Reviewers, such as the weak engineering content of some candidates’ submissions.
SCEs can often be in the front line for promoting ICE membership in their companies and explaining ICE initiatives. They perform an essential role both within their companies and on behalf of the wider civil engineering profession. Attendance at an SCE seminar every two years is also a condition of ongoing SCE registration. Delegated Engineers and company training managers are also welcome to take part. The final SCE seminar in 2011 is in Chelmsford on Tuesday 5 July. Email iceeastofengland@ice.org.uk to book your place.
