The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) North East has provided two regional students with the opportunity to develop their burgeoning careers, by awarding them with a highly respected scholarship.
New College Durham student, Adam Hewitt, and Joe Smith, who studies at Darlington College of Technology, have made such impacts in their respective work places, they were prompted to apply for ICE’s illustrious scheme.
The QUEST Technician Scholarship provides support to students with technical and practical engineering experience, who, like Adam and Joe, are studying courses which could lead to a professional qualification as an Engineering Technician.
The application for the award required education, employment and qualifications information, references from employers and a personal statement. Amongst their applications, Adam’s referee speaks of his significant commitment to civil engineering, whilst Joe highlights his completion of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Penny Marshall, director of ICE North East, said: “This QUEST Technician Scholarship will be an enormous boost for Adam’s and Joe’s careers within the industry and it is a pleasure to be able to present this well-respected award to them, which attracts applicants of the highest calibre.
“We wish Adam and Joe every success with their studies and look forward to seeing their development within the industry.”
