Seminar on Risk Management
The ICE West Indies Local Association (ICEWILA) held its first seminar for 2013 entitled: “Risk Management”. The Seminar was held at the President’s Box, Queen’s Park Cricket Club (The Oval) in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on January 31st, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm.
The Keynote Speaker was Mr. Vinay Shrivastava of Arup Global, UK. The Seminar was attended by an energetic audience of 25 persons comprising of engineers, employers, contractors, technicians and other associates in the local construction industry. The presentation was well received and focused on current hot topics in risk management such as business continuity, practical applications of risk management, the relationship between project failure and risk, applying risk to contract pricing, bridging the gap between risk planners and risk managers as well as the analysis, monitoring and response to risks. At the end of the hour long presentation, Professor Lewis engaged the audience in a responsive session to determine if the learning outcomes were met. The audience responded positively, giving answers to all questions. A lively question and answer session followed which lasted 45 minutes. The ICE West Indies Local Association would like to sincerely thank Mr. Shrivastava and Arup Global for sharing experiences and knowledge in the field of risk management.
