Share your experiences in 'Civil Engineering' journal

Civil engineering, like many other professions, advances by sharing information. We learn from each other’s successes and failures, but we can only do so if we report them.

One of the most effective ways to do this, while also building your reputation within the profession, is by writing papers and articles – anything from 700 to 3,500 words – for ICE’s peer-reviewed journals such as Civil Engineering.

Boosting your CV and CPD

No matter how apparently ordinary you consider your current work or project, the chances are there’s something about it others can learn from. In return for researching, writing and submitting an article or paper, you can become better known and respected within the profession, boost your CV and enhance your CPD.

World-leading journals

Civil Engineering is the general journal of the ICE Proceedings, the longest-established and most-respected suite of peer-reviewed civil engineering journals in the world. First published in 1836, there are now 18 titles covering all aspects of the profession.

All Proceedings journals rely entirely on material contributed by civil engineering practitioners and researchers at all levels of membership: you could be one of them.

What to do next

Requirements for Civil Engineering submissions are simple: good English, supporting illustrations and references, and a relevant topic that meets the journal's aims of providing a source of reference material, promoting best practice and broadening civil engineers’ knowledge.

You can find full guidelines on how to write and submit material on the ICE Virtual Library. The editor, secretary and all members of the editorial panel are also happy to give you any advice you need.
