Site Visit to EXOVA Laboratory in Muscat
Currently, infrastructure development and associated construction actives are progressing at break neck speed in various parts of Oman.
Civil Engineers' responsibilities now involve various activities including selection of the right materials, approval of materials and specifications and developing a scope of works. During a previous ICE branch meeting, these themes were discussed and subsequently the ICE committee approached EXOVA for an educational tour to their laboratory facilities so attendees could familiarise themslves with their portfolio of materials-testing capabilities. Accordingly on 28th March, Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) branch members and other potential members visited the EXOVA laboratory in Muscat.
During the visit, the entire EXOVA team extended their full cooperation in demonstrating various testing facilities, methods and equipment in civil, soils, chemical and metallurgical disciplines. The visit was very informative and all attendees received various study materials as well.
This was a valuable experience which will enable them to perform their work better, as well as to share any lessons learned with colleagues. All delegates got an appreciation of the advantages of using internationally accredited laboratory facilities such as EXOVA for their testing requirements. The visit was organised by the local ICE Oman committee headed up by local ICE International Representative, Ranganathan Subbaraman. A huge thanks goes to Mr. Freddy Soman, Technical Sales Manager-Civil, and other colleagues at EXOVA, for hosting the visit.
