The Government has announced £294 million will be spent on flood defences this year and a large slice of it is coming to the East of England. A total of 93 schemes have been given the go ahead including 15 in the Eastern region due to commence this year. These include £28.6 million for Great Yarmouth protecting over 2000 homes.

Representatives from ICE travelled to Tokyo last month to participate in a joint International Symposium with the Japanese Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). The meeting was attended by representatives from over 20 nations to investigate infrastructure resilience and prepare for natural disasters.
