Commenting on the announcement by Defra that 93 regional flood defence schemes have been given the green light for construction, ICE Flooding Expert, David Balmforth, said:

The Government has announced £294 million will be spent on flood defences this year and a large slice of it is coming to the East of England. A total of 93 schemes have been given the go ahead including 15 in the Eastern region due to commence this year. These include £28.6 million for Great Yarmouth protecting over 2000 homes.
