On Friday 10 February, ICE was pleased to welcome over 400 members and their families to our headquarters in London for the Certificate Presentation Ceremony. Hosted by David Lloyd-Roach, Director of Membership, and Richard Coackley, ICE President, this event represents the culmination of the Professional Review process which sees members achieve chartered status and senior grades of membership.

Paddington Station roof wins HBIA

Winners
A £45 million project to refurbish the roof of Paddington Station has emerged as one of the winners at the 2011 Historic Bridge and Infrastructure Awards.

The restoration of Newport Iron Bridge and the repair of Telpyn Bridge in Denbighshire also won awards, and projects on the Kennet and Avon Canal and the Ricker Gill Bridge in Cumbria were commended. The reconstruction of the Welsh Highland Railway won a special mention.

This year's ‘Evening with the President’ Event, on 2nd February, started a little belatedly as ICE President Richard Coackley was delayed at a previous engagement with none other than Prince Charles. As excuses for lateness go that’s quite a concrete one (pun semi intentional). The late start did however allow all attendees to take full advantage of the ample refreshments provided with many going back for seconds and, impressively, thirds.
