ICE Director General awards Atkins employees

Ironman Jordan raises money for Uganda trip

7 AUGUST 2012

Jordan Nelson, a University of Wolverhampton Civil Engineering student, competed in the Ironman UK endurance triathlon event in Bolton Lancs last month to raise money for his volunteering placement with Engineers For Overseas Development (EFOD).

Droitwich Canal wins top prize at ICE West Mids Annual Awards

A project which has seen the canals in Droitwich brought back into productive use after a 40-year effort by campaigners was the big winner at the ICE West Midlands Annual Awards on 9 May.  Seven further awards were given out on the night and five projects were highly commended.

Brunel Bear rides in to the West Midlands!

Brunel the Bear was collected from the North West by West Midlands Graduates and Students Committee and EFOD members during a sponsored cycle ride between Wolverhampton and Stoke.  He is now touring the region and you may meet him soon at a location near you!

John Rennie plaque unveiled at Rudyard Lake

7 JUNE 2011

A plaque to commemorate the 250th birthday of John Rennie was unveiled on 7th June by Damian McGettrick, ICE West Midlands Chairman, at Rudyard Lake.  Rennie, a leading civil engineer of his generation, designed the Rudyard Dam and reservoir to supply water to the Leek branch of the Trent & Mersey Canal.

Selly Oak New Road project scoops top ICE West Midlands Award

ICE West Midlands' Awards Dinner on 19 May saw seven civil engineering projects being awarded top prizes. The overall prize was given to Selly Oak New Road Phase 2 design which also won the Innovation Award.
