Help plan the future - join your local flood and coastal committee

The Environment Agency are looking for a new member to join the Anglian (Eastern) Regional Flood and Coastal Committee which covers large parts of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, and the Unitary Authorities of Southend and Thurrock. The area includes Britain’s largest wetland, the Broads, and rivers including the Waveney, the Wensum, the Yare, the Stour and the Colne. The area is particularly vulnerable to the risks of flooding and coastal erosion.

Halcrow engineer Mark Sanders wins ‘ICE best student or graduate paper’ prize

ICE Graduate Mark Sanders won the Graduate and Student Paper Competition last month after presenting his paper ‘Fertiliser from Human Waste in Scottish Agriculture’ to a highly engaged audience and panel of judges. The national final took place at ICE’s London headquarters.

World’s engineers put resilient infrastructure first at Tokyo symposium

Representatives from ICE travelled to Tokyo last month to participate in a joint International Symposium with the Japanese Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). The meeting was attended by representatives from over 20 nations to investigate infrastructure resilience and prepare for natural disasters.
