The first quarter of 2012 saw a number of events and announcements that led to considerable media coverage for ICE, not least the Prime Minister delivering his pre Budget announcement on infrastructure at ICE’s headquarters, just weeks after the Prince of Wales delivered his first speech on infrastructure at the ICE/Halcrow lecture, also at One Great George Street.

This quarter has seen the fruits of our efforts during the summer in the run up to the Comprehensive Spending Review, where the media focus for ICE was to ensure government recognised the economic and environmental value of continued investment in infrastructure, while positioning ourselves as an organisation that was realistic about the need to reduce the huge budget deficit.

Unsurprisingly, the media’s focus over the last quarter has been on the Government’s comprehensive spending review (CSR), with daily media speculation on the depth of the cuts and which areas are in the firing line. Alongside that are pleas from bodies and organisations right across the UK making their case for immunity or at least a ‘fair hearing’ in the review.
