Commenting on the Liberal Democrat party speech by Chris Huhne MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change –

ICE Director General, Tom Foulkes, said:

“It is encouraging and refreshing to hear Chris Huhne MP acknowledge the need for both renewables and nuclear in the energy mix and stamp some real certainty and leadership on the future of nuclear. This will enable industry to make long-term investment decisions with confidence. Going forward Government must ensure this reassurance and clarity continues so this critical programme progresses steadily - guaranteeing our security of energy supply in the future and proving an opportunity for the UK to become a global role model for energy investment.”
