ICE announces new contractors for Storey's Gate project
The Institution of Civil Engineers has announced the appointment of Gardiner & Theobald Construction Management (GTCM) to manage completion of its new office building at 8 Storey’s Gate, Westminster.
The Storey’s Gate office refurbishment was expected to be completed before the Olympics but was delayed in April when the original contractors Killby & Gayford went into administration.
GTCM – the construction management arm of Gardiner & Theobald who are currently project managing the refurbishment – have assessed the site, made recommendations for taking the project forward and the appointment has been approved by ICE Council.
The re-start will take place in the next week, with the construction phase likely to be completed in November. ICE anticipates that staff will move into the new building before the end of 2012.
ICE Director General, Nick Baveystock, said: “The delay caused by Killby & Gayford ceasing trading was very unfortunate and out of our control. But prompt action to appoint a new construction manager and hard work over the last 6-8 weeks has enabled us to get into a position where we still expect to be able to move into the new offices this year.”
