ICE welcomes appointment of Head of Infrastructure UK

Date:

27 JULY 2011

Responding to the announcement of the appointment of Geoffrey Spence as the Chief Executive of Infrastructure UK, Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) president Peter Hansford said:

“The rapid appointment of Geoffrey Spence to head up IUK is encouraging – it is vital that there is a leading figure on infrastructure within the Treasury to ensure it gets the strong attention it needs. The appointment of a figure both experienced in the infrastructure sector and well known across Westminster is also welcomed. The ability to command respect from our industry and show a clear understanding of the issues facing this country regarding infrastructure investment, will be essential in driving this agenda forward. We look forward to meeting with Geoffrey soon to continue our close working relationship with IUK at this level.”
