Commenting on the appointment of Peter Hansford as the next Government Chief Construction Adviser, Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Director General, Nick Baveystock, said
“The appointment of past ICE President Peter Hansford as the next Chief Construction Adviser is excellent news. The implementation of the National Infrastructure plan and the transition to a low carbon economy present challenging times and the need for a respected construction champion within Whitehall has never been greater.
"From his role within the IUK Cost Study as a conduit between Government and Industry, Peter clearly recognises the huge benefits that can be achieved by industry having a single point of entry into Government and the importance of providing focus and leadership. His passion for efficiency and value will also help in driving forward the principles of the Cost Study and ensuring they are embedded into client and supply chain practice as part of Government Construction Strategy.
“We look forward to continuing the close working relationship ICE has developed with the CCA since the role was established and we are keen to work with Peter in equipping the industry for a low carbon future, through his role as member of the Green Construction Board.”
