Mentor of the Year award

The Mentor of the Year Award recognises the worthy contribution made by those who encourage the development of young civil engineers and support them to meet their professional goals.

About the competition

The award is for employers, lectures and others who have greatly assisted the development of graduate and student civil engineers.

Graduate and student members of the ICE have until the end of July to put forward their nominations and be in with a chance of winning training and book vouchers from Thomas Telford Ltd. The four finalist Mentors and ‘Mentees’ will be invited to an interview at One Great George Street in September to select the winner.

The winner will be announced in October at the Institution of Civil Engineers annual awards ceremony. This event is an excellent chance to put your mentor in the headlines and gain prestige for your company.

Kieran Owens, Chair of GSNet, said:

“The Mentor of the Year Award recognises those employers, managers, colleagues or lecturers that go above and beyond what is required of them to support and encourage the professional development of graduate and student civil engineers.”

David Lloyd-Roach, ICE Director of Membership, said:

“This Award is driven entirely by ICE’s graduate and student membership, who wanted to put the well deserved spotlight on those civil engineers that strive to develop and support their younger colleagues or students.”

How to apply

The application can be type written in any font of any size, photos (colour or B&W) and illustrations may be included, but the typeface is to be no smaller than Arial 10 pt single spacing (for legibility of reading) or the application may be legibly hand written.
