More about the scholarship and selection process
What happens to my application?
After the application deadline, your application will be assessed by your ICE regional office. They will then select which applicants they would like to invite for interview.
All applicants will be contacted by their ICE regional office to inform them if they have been invited to attend an interview.
Where and when do interviews take place?
Interviews will take place in your ICE region typically between December and February, however this may be subject to change by the individual regional office. ICE will contribute to reasonable travel expenses incurred whilst travelling to and from the interview.
When do I find out if I have been awarded a scholarship?
Applicants will be told at the interview when to expect to hear the result of their application.
How much is the scholarship worth?
- The scholarship is worth a total of £1,500 per qualification
- The scholarship is worth a total of £750 if awarded in the final year of a course.
- The award amount will be split equally over the duration of a course. For example candidates on two year courses will receive £750 per annum
- Successful candidates will typically receive their payment(s) between February and March
What are the conditions of the scholarship?
There are two main conditions that scholars must fulfil:
1. Every scholar is required to fill out a brief report form at the end of each academic year, the purpose of which is:
- To gain signed confirmation from a tutor of results from the previous year
- To obtain proof of enrolment on to subsequent year of study
- For scholars to reflect on the year, including their experiences and development
2. Scholars are required to take part in an activity that promotes civil engineering and/or the scholarship whilst they are studying. Preferably this will be in conjunction with your awarding ICE region.
