The Appropriate Development Panel promotes appropriate technical and social solutions for sustainable development. We aim to:
- Foster a greater understanding of appropriate technology and development issues between involved professionals.
- Promote and encourage widespread use of appropriate technology.
The ADP discusses wide ranging appropriate technical solutions all of which are capable of making a valuable contribution towards the improvement of life for millions of people world wide, particularly those in the South. Through it's meetings the panel has become a springboard promoting these examples.
The ADP's very strength arises from the broad base of professions represented in the panel. As a result the panels meetings attract participants from a very broad range of disciplines.
The ADP is currently organising a series of meetings entitled 'Hands-On for Development' which will broadly cover, micro-credit, housing, energy and the environment, and water and sanitation. This series incorporates video footage produced by the Television Trust for the Environment (TVE International), in collaboration with ITDG, for international television.
The ADP organises biennial Appropriate Technology Days, these are aimed at Key Stage IV students following a Design and Technology GCSE course.
The Appropriate Development Panel is chaired by Peter Cameron, for further information about the ADP and its activities please contact Ruth Dennett at the ICE on t; 020 7665 2154.
