Registering as an ICE ambassador automatically registers you as a Science & Engineering Ambassador (SEA). The SEAs scheme is funded by government and run by STEMNET (the national Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Network). ICE enjoys an arrangement with STEMNET which allows ICE members to recieve a free Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check and an induction.
When registering, please indicate clearly that you are an ICE member on page 3 of the online form.

Once your registration has been processed, you will be contacted by your STEMPOINT (your local branch of STEMNET) directly to arrange a free induction session. Your ICE Regional Education Co-ordinator (REC) will then contact you to offer you opportunities to get involved in activities organised locally by ICE. You may also be contacted by your local STEMPOINT about activities that they organise. These are unlikely to relate specifically to civil engineering but may deliver more general messages to young people about the importance of sticking with STEM subjects in order to keep career options open.
But this doesn't mean that you have to sit and wait for things to happen! If you have already established contacts or links with a local school or teacher, you can initiate a school visit to talk about civil engineering careers or run an activity, however we strongly recommend that that you register and that a CRB check is completed first. Do let your Regional Education Coordinator know about it and contact us for careers literature to support the event and reinforce your message.
