ICE Ambassadors are members who volunteer to work with schools to encourage awareness and enthusiasm for Civil Engineering and the subjects which underpin its study. This involves attendance at careers fairs, giving presentations on engineering careers and running engineering activities with groups of school children. This activity is coordinated by a team of Regional Education Coordinators.
More about the ICE Ambassador Programme….
The ICE Ambassadors Programme is run at a local level by coordinators who are responsible for dealing with requests from schools and the registration of new ambassadors.
Working with young people in schools can be an incredibly rewarding experience and as an ambassador you have to call on a wide range of skills such as communication, presentation skills, organisation and leadership. Ambassador activity also counts towards your CPD - so don't forget to record what you've gained from these experiences!
We are constantly on the look out for dynamic civil engineers to go into schools and enthuse young people about the profession. Many companies release employees throughout the year for school activities which jointly deliver the ICE message and help promote the graduates organisation.
The ICE Ambassador programme is closely aligned with Construction Ambassadors - CA's (CITB-ConstructionSkills) and Science and Engineering Ambassadors - SEA's (SETNET)
In the Activities, Guidance & Resources and Useful links sections, you will find information, guidance and activities developed by ICE and its existing Ambassadors, to encourage young people in their study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics - and most importantly, to raise their awareness and appreciation of the wonderful world of civil engineering! |
