European Engineer (EUR ING)

EUR ING is the professional title of EUROPEAN ENGINEER delivered by FEANI (the European Federation of Engineers). The Eur Ing register is maintained by FEANI ( European Federation of National Engineering Associations) and is intended to facilitate professional mobility within Europe.

Am I eligible?

Chartered Engineers are eligible to register for the pre-nominal title of EUR ING (European Engineer).

How do I apply?

The UK national member of FEANI is the Engineering Council. Please visit the Engineering Council website for more information about the EUR ING title and how to apply.

If you are CEng MICE and wish to apply for this title, please download and complete the EUR ING application form from the FEANI website and send it with the fee and supporting documentation to the Institution of Civil Engineers, One Great George Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 3AA. Unfortunately the Institution is unable to accept completed EUR ING application forms via email.

Please also note that registration can take up to 6 months. Once your application is processed by ICE it is sent to the Engineering Council, which will submit this to the FEANI committee for assessment. The FEANI committee meets four times a year.

ICE applicants holding the EUR ING title

If you are registered as EUR ING and have gained your national professional qualification in the EU, you may be eligible to apply to ICE for membership via the European Directive route.

However, please note that whilst your EUR ING title may be taken into account in the assessment of your application, it is not a regulated title for the purposes of the Directive and does not award eligibility for this route on its own.
