| How to establish an Approved Training Scheme
Companies who wish to establish an ICE Approved Training Scheme should, in the first instance, contact ICE via the CATS Co-ordinator. Initial enquiries from UK based companies will be passed on to the relevant Regional Support Team who will arrange to discuss the Scheme. They will then assist with advising what the Scheme should contain and continue with this until it is at a stage where it can be approved. Please consult Membership Guidance Note 8 for further information.
Supervising Civil Engineers and Delegated Engineers
Before any Training Scheme may be approved, it must include a minimum of one Supervising Civil Engineer (SCE) whose role it is to mentor trainees through their period of training. A SCE may be assisted by a Delegated Engineer (DE). For further guidance on the two roles please consult Membership Guidance Note 12 (UK based) or Membership Guidance Note 12a (non UK based).
Training Agreements Online
The new training agreements online modules will now make the administration of your training scheme much easier. Not only will this allow your trainees to register online for their training agreements (reducing the amount of paperwork by your agreement coordinator), but we will also provide you with access to a FREE online administration area which will give you with increased visibility of your trainees and their application progress as well as provide you with an automated online payment option. Click here to find out further information on Training Agreements Online.
You can confirm if your company is enabled for online registration via our Approved Employers Search tool.

Any new training schemes which are approved from January 2008 will automatically be signed up for this online service. Over time, we hope to migrate as many of our existing schemes over to our online module, but if you are an existing scheme interested in joining this pilot now, please complete form ICE 3140 or get in contact with the CATS coordinator for further information.
