Individuals can still become professionally qualified through self-managed training without having completed an ICE Approved Training Scheme. Once you have gained sufficient experience you are able to apply for a Career Appraisal. However, the requirements of the ICE Development Objectives must still be met and verified through this process.
Your experience will be assessed on an individual basis to determine that you have the same basic competences as someone who has successfully completed their Initial Professional Development (IPD) via a Training Agreement. If your application is approved you would be advised that you can proceed to the Professional Review.
It is a documentary submission with the possibility of an interview. The ICE strongly advises you maintain a full training record, which will greatly strengthen your submission for Career Appraisal and also for your Professional Review.
All relevant knowledge and experience in any location may count when assessing IPD. This can be obtained when undertaking formal academic education, when employed or when working in a voluntary capacity. Suitable pre-graduation experience from industrial placements and part-time or vacation work may count.
Please Note: A Career Appraisal is optional for Technician Membership (TMICE)
To apply for a Career Appraisal, please submit the following documents:
*All qualifications are subject to ICE´s internal audit process for verification. Please be aware that we may need to contact your University/College to verify the authenticity of your qualification
The receipt of applications will be acknowledged by email and applicants will be informed by email of the result within 8 weeks. CA´s are undertaken by experienced, volunteer members of ICE (generally mid month) and often require the full length of time just quoted for processing. It would be helpful if applicants did not contact the Institution earlier than 8 weeks from when the application was submitted.
